He Tangata Show Chorus

Land: Nieuw-Zeeland
Dirigent: Virginia Humphrey-Taylor

Bio

  • The original purpose of He Tangata Show Chorus is to provide an on-going opportunity for members of New Zealand Region 35 Sweet Adelines International (SAI) choruses, or Chapter at Large (CAL) members, with further musical education, directed by a Master Director. Members of He Tangata Show Chorus travel and sing at choral events, to experience singing with another director, and with other singers, for the education, and the musical camaraderie.
  • The chorus has an exciting and upbeat repertoire with a distinctive New Zealand flavour and performs at events throughout NZ, generally in association with ‘host’ choruses and is showcased at their national conventions. The Chorus gets together three to four times a year for weekend workshops to further enhance barbershop craft.
  • In recent years, as well as singing at most Region 35 conventions, He Tangata Show Chorus has performed twice at the Australian Region 34 Convention (Newcastle, and Hobart) and at the SAI International Conventions (Hawaii 2013), and also at the Polynesian Cultural Centre in Hawaii. The Chorus has performed throughout New Zealand as guests at chorus shows, in centres including Auckland, Nelson, Whangarei, New Plymouth and Palmerston North.
