Land: Duitsland
Dirigent: Thomas Gottschalk

Bio

  • The chamber choir of Bischöfliches Gymnasium St. Ursula Geilenkirchen comprises 35 students of junior high and senior high level who are all very enthusiastic about music. The choir’s main goal, besides voice training, is working on choral pieces for four to six voices of different kinds, for example the Christmas Oratorio by J.S. Bach (2016), the symphonic gospel Prince of Peace by R. Grössler (2017), cantatas, mass settings as well as smaller choral works in the realms of film, musical, pop and opera.
  • The choir regularly contributes to church services, cultural events and celebrations in school and different local or regional festivities.
  • The ensemble of the mixed choir (SATB) is proud of the second place in WDR’s contest for school choirs that took place in Aachen in 2018. As one of twenty North-Rhine Westphalian choirs, the chamber choir most recently participated in the TV show “Der Beste Chor im Westen 2019” by Westdeutscher Rundfunk.
