Bio

  • Molen Kórus, a chamber choir in the Potchefstroom area, was founded in 2011 and is conducted by Loretté du Toit and Kobus Venter. The name of the choir is derived from the famous street in the heart of Potchefstroom where the choir rehearse weekly. The choir mainly consists of postgraduate students and members of the community around Potchefstroom, all with a love for music and especially choral music. The choir strives for musical excellence and members are selected to constantly achieve a high standard of choral singing.
  • The choir performs at many choral festivals/events. The choir was announced as winners in the category Chamber Choirs as well as overall winners of the ATKV – International Animato choir competition in 2015. In 2016 the choir also performed at the National arts festival – Aardklop, and they also hosted the first ever Chamber choir festival in Potchefstroom. In 2018 the choir won three categories in the open competition of the 10th World Choir Games in Tshwane.
